Design Engineering Team Leader – Black Pearl Consult
Black Pearl Consult is hiring an experienced Design Engineering Team Leader specializing in technical engineering design, responsible for leading a design team and overseeing projects from initial concept through design, development, testing, and final delivery.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in 3D CAD/CAE design, project management, technical problem-solving, and team leadership, with the ability to manage complex engineering projects with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and monitor engineering design projects, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with technical requirements.
Develop 3D models, prototypes, dimensional drawings, installation drawings, and detailed engineering documentation.
Review customer specifications, plans, and technical documentation and translate requirements into practical engineering solutions.
Manage and maintain CAD models, engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), calculations, design parameters, and technical documentation.
Analyse design issues, identify root causes, implement solutions, and support testing and simulation activities.
Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations and solutions.
Support tender proposals, product compliance documentation, cost proposals, and cost-reduction initiatives.
Liaise with internal departments, project teams, sales teams, suppliers, and customers on technical and design requirements.
Ensure engineering deliverables meet required quality, functionality, performance, and customer specifications.
Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to junior engineers.
Monitor team performance and identify training and development requirements.
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering function.
Ensure compliance with company policies, engineering standards, and confidentiality requirements.
RequirementsRequirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related discipline.
Substantial experience in design engineering and 3D CAD/CAE.
Advanced proficiency in Creo, Fusion 360, or comparable 3D design software.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, BOMs, product development, and technical documentation.
Proven experience managing engineering projects and meeting project deadlines.
Previous experience leading, mentoring, or supervising an engineering team.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and project-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and complex design requirements simultaneously.
