Job Summary

The Medical Laboratory Technologist is responsible for performing laboratory

investigations, specimen processing, quality control and andrology-related procedures

while ensuring accurate results, patient safety and compliance with DOH regulations and

laboratory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, receive, identify and process patient specimens in accordance with

established laboratory protocols.

• Perform laboratory investigations, testing and analysis within the authorized DOH

scope of practice.

• Conduct andrology procedures, including semen analysis, sperm preparation and

sperm washing for assisted reproductive treatments.

• Assist with sperm preparation for IUI and other fertility-related procedures, subject

to competency and authorization.

• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.

• Perform internal quality control, calibration and routine equipment checks.

• Maintain accurate laboratory records, test results and documentation.

• Ensure proper specimen handling, storage, disposal and adherence to infection

control and biosafety protocols.

• Coordinate daily laboratory activities, workflow, sample tracking, inventory and

consumables.

• Coordinate with clinicians, nurses and laboratory team members to ensure timely

processing and reporting of results.

• Maintain compliance with DOH, CAP and applicable laboratory quality standards.

General Responsibilities: Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the

Head of Department (HOD) and other computer, paper related tasks to lab management.
