Chief Cleaning Steward – Parx cafe LLC

Job Purpose

The Chief Steward is responsible for managing the stewarding team and ensuring all kitchen, back-of-house, and service areas are maintained in a clean, organized, and sanitary condition. The role oversees dishwashing operations, cleaning schedules, equipment cleaning, waste management, and the efficient operation of the stewarding department.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead the stewarding team on a daily basis.
• Plan and assign daily cleaning duties and stewarding schedules.
• Ensure all kitchen utensils, cookware, crockery, cutlery, glassware, and equipment are cleaned and stored properly.
• Maintain cleanliness of all kitchens, dishwashing areas, storage areas, service stations, and back-of-house facilities.
• Ensure all floors, walls, drains, ceilings, and work surfaces are cleaned according to company standards.
• Oversee the operation of dishwashing machines and ensure they are functioning efficiently.
• Monitor the proper use, storage, and maintenance of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• Ensure waste is collected, separated, and disposed of promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness of garbage rooms, waste bins, and disposal areas.
• Coordinate with kitchen and restaurant teams to ensure a continuous supply of clean equipment during service.
• Conduct routine inspections to ensure cleaning standards are consistently maintained.
• Report any damaged equipment or maintenance issues to the relevant department.
• Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and stewarding equipment and request replenishment when required.
• Train, coach, and evaluate stewarding staff on cleaning procedures and safe use of cleaning equipment.
• Ensure all stewarding staff follow company grooming, attendance, and workplace safety policies.
• Assist with deep cleaning projects and support operational requirements during busy periods and special events.
