Accountant – Epic Eats

Reports To: Finance and Accounting Manager

To ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions, manage day-to-day accounting operations, and provide key financial insights to support decision-making for the restaurant’s operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Accounting & Bookkeeping

• Record daily sales from the POS system and reconcile with bank and cash.

• Maintain and reconcile all general ledger accounts.

• Manage and record accounts payable and receivable.

• Prepare journal entries and ensure accurate month-end and year-end closing.

• Maintain the chart of accounts aligned with restaurant cost centers (e.g., kitchen, bar, delivery, etc.).

2. Inventory & Cost Control

• Monitor food and beverage costings and report variances.

• Conduct monthly inventory counts in coordination with kitchen/store staff.

• Track spoilage, wastage, and discounts to control cost leakages.

• Reconcile inventory records with supplier invoices.

3. Payroll & Staff-Related Accruals

• Prepare monthly payroll reports in coordination with HR.

• Accrue for staff benefits such as gratuity, leave, and air ticket provisions.

• Handle WPS file preparation if required.

4. VAT & Compliance

• Ensure proper VAT treatment of revenues and expenses.

• Prepare and file VAT returns in compliance with FTA deadlines.

• Maintain audit-ready records and support documentation for all tax filings.

5. Bank and Cash Management

• Reconcile bank statements and petty cash accounts.

• Monitor cash flow and advise management on liquidity.

6. Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare monthly financial reports including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.

• Analyze restaurant performance KPIs such as food cost %, labor cost %, gross profit margins.

• Assist in budget preparation and variance analysis.

7. Audit and Year-End Support

• Support external auditors with required documentation and schedules.

• Maintain organized and compliant financial records from Day 1 for audit and CIT filing.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in F&B or hospitality.

• Knowledge of UAE VAT regulations and FTA compliance.

• Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Zoho, Xero) and POS integration.

• Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
